COMMUTERS on C2C trains into London from Essex have been hit by delays and disruption.

Here's the latest on which services are affected.

Why are there delays on C2C trains?

Passengers travelling into London Fenchurch Street station faced severe delays and cancellations on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

Stranded commuters battled huge queues and complained of "third world services" as the busy route into the city was crippled during rush hour on the evening of June 27.

C2C said it had to cancel trains after overhead power lines were damaged on Wednesday afternoon outside Fenchurch Street, and also near Grays.

Engineers worked through the night to fix the problem.

But on Thursday morning trains from Essex were stopping at Barking and there were knock-on delays on all the firm's routes.

C2C said on Twitter on Thursday: "Due to damage to the overhead wires earlier today between London Fenchurch Street and Barking fewer trains are able to run on all all lines.

"Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised."

Which C2C services are affected?

C2C, which runs trains into London from Grays, Basildon, Shoeburyness, Pitsea, Leigh-on-Sea and Southend, said all lines were disrupted.

A total of 26 trains were cancelled on Thursday as the line remained closed between Barking and Fenchurch Street.

Ticket holders were permitted to travel on Greater Anglia, London Overground and Underground, and TfL rail and bus services.

Are services back to normal?

At 11am C2C said its services had returned to normal after repairs to the power lines.
